Apparently providing free internet access isn't as big of a gold mine as the companies had originally expected. Each company that has gone out of business has had press releases or they have sent out an e-mail explaining what has happened. Bluelight: Since July 26, 2001, BlueLight.com no longer accepts new BlueLight Basic Service subscribers. The free 12-hour service ended on August 29, 2001.
Excite: Since March 1, 2001, Excite's free Internet access service, Freelane, has no longer been available. They now offer their users access through pay isp Worldshare.net.

FreeAtLast: E-mailed that they could no longer afford to provide free internet access, and due to a lack of interest, they would not provide pay internet either.
BigGuppy.net: Their website stopped working for a while, and then began forwarding to evisionlink.com.
iFreedom: E-mailed they could no longer afford to provide free internet access, their site now forwards to NetZero.
1NationOnline: Now charges for internet access.
DialFree: They stopped providing free internet access and started forwarding visitors to their site to Talarion, their parent company. The site now says that free internet is coming soon, but for now visitors should sign up with WorldShare.
WorldShare: Was originally free, but now has several different pay internet packages.
